Certas Energy UK Limited (Companies House number 04168225), based in Warrington, supplies households across Shropshire as part of verified nationwide coverage, with a 500-litre minimum on domestic kerosene orders. As a listed UKIFDA member, it makes a sensible starting point before working through the smaller suppliers also covering the county.
Order direct with Certas Energy on their own site, rather than through a third-party reseller that takes your order and passes it on. You get the supplier's own price, you are dealing with the company that actually delivers the oil, and there is no broker between you and the tanker. We do not take orders, handle payment or add a fee to anything you buy.
Affiliate partnership. Certas Energy pays us for this featured position. Certas Energy is our affiliate partner and pays for the featured position at the top of this page. We would rather say that plainly than let it look like an unexplained ranking. What the payment does not change is the evidence: the points above are the same verified fields we hold for all 83 suppliers. It buys this one card and nothing else - the list below is alphabetical, and no supplier can pay to be in it or to move up it. We hold no prices and no review scores, so this is not a claim that they are cheapest or best rated - always ring round the other suppliers below before you order. How we make money.
Named UK suppliers covering the Shropshire area
Shropshire is England's largest inland county and one of its most sparsely populated, with large tracts of rural land around the Long Mynd, Clun Forest and Welsh Marches where mains gas is entirely absent. Around 25% of Shropshire homes use oil, making it one of the most oil-dependent counties in the Midlands. The SY and TF postcodes cover a wide geographic spread, meaning delivery costs can vary - more isolated properties near the Welsh border often see slightly higher quotes.
Local heating oil prices depend on how far your postcode is from the nearest fuel terminal, how far tankers travel to reach rural properties, how many suppliers compete in your area, and the size of your order - larger deliveries are cheaper per litre. Prices also move with the seasons (demand peaks in winter) and follow the global crude oil and wholesale kerosene markets, which can shift from week to week.
Compare quotes from several suppliers on the day you want to order, since prices change week to week with the wholesale market. Ordering 500 litres or more usually unlocks a better per-litre rate than a 300-litre order, and ordering outside the peak winter demand period tends to help too. Use the form above to compare quotes for your exact postcode.
Availability depends on your exact postcode. Use the form above to compare quotes from suppliers covering your address, and see the list of suppliers serving Shropshire below.
Standard deliveries typically take a few working days, and some suppliers offer faster options for an additional charge. During cold spells lead times extend across the board, so it helps to order when your tank reaches about a quarter full rather than waiting until it runs low.
Yes, several. Many Shropshire village communities, particularly in the Clun Valley, the South Shropshire Hills and Corvedale, have established oil-buying clubs. Membership often means access to volume discount pricing that can save 3-6p per litre. Your parish council or village hall notice board is the best starting point.
Most national suppliers cover the SY postcode including the Welsh Marches border area, though availability may be narrower for the most remote communities. Some smaller local operators also serve this area effectively. Always enter your exact postcode in our comparison tool - availability varies at a postcode rather than county level.
