The short version
We ask for your email and postcode so we can show you which suppliers deliver to you and reply to your enquiry. We never sell your data. We do not pass it to a supplier unless you ask us to. We set two first-party cookies, and only after you submit the form or click our affiliate partner's link. You can have your data deleted by sending one email.
This policy explains how TMR Digital Ltd, trading as Compare My Heating Oil (company number 15550089, registered in England and Wales), collects and uses personal data through comparemyheatingoil.co.uk.
TMR Digital Ltd is the data controller for that data. Our registered office is 60 Tottenham Court Road, Suite 4387a, Fitzrovia, London W1T 2EW.
For anything to do with your data, email privacy@comparemyheatingoil.co.uk. We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer and have not appointed one; the address above reaches the person responsible.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, address beyond the postcode, or any payment details, and we have no account system. We do not knowingly collect data from children; this site is intended for adults arranging a household fuel delivery.
You can read every page on this site - prices, guides, supplier profiles and area comparisons - without giving us anything. The quote form is the only place we ask for personal data, and completing it is entirely your choice.
Ticking the marketing box is optional and separate. Your enquiry is handled either way, and ticking it is never a condition of using the form.
We do not sell your personal data, and we never have. We do not pass your details to heating oil suppliers unless you specifically ask us to - clicking through to a supplier's own website is you dealing with them directly, and anything you then enter on their site is covered by their privacy policy, not ours.

Clicking an affiliate link. One supplier, Certas Energy, pays us for the featured position. Those links go to the affiliate network that handles the arrangement, and the link carries a label for the page you clicked from so the network can report which pages produce orders. It carries nothing about you: not your email address, not your name, not your postcode. We do not record the click on our side at all. The network and Certas Energy will receive the usual information any website receives when you arrive, such as your IP address and browser, and will set their own cookies under their own policies. You are taken straight to Certas Energy, and anything you do there is covered by their privacy policy.
Formspree and Resend are both based in the United States, so your quote request and the emails we send you are transferred there. UK GDPR allows this only with a safeguard in place, and the transfer is made under a data processing agreement incorporating the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. If you would rather not have your enquiry handled this way, email us at the address above instead of using the form and it will stay within our own systems.
Reading this site sets nothing. We run no analytics, use no local storage and load nothing from a third-party domain - the fonts and images are served from our own.
Two first-party cookies are set only when you take a deliberate action. Submitting the quote form sets a reference to your enquiry, so a later click can be matched to it and so we can honour an unsubscribe. Clicking through to our affiliate partner sets the reference for that click, so the commission can be attributed. Both are first-party, unreadable to scripts, and hold a reference number rather than anything about you. The full detail is in our cookie policy.
We do not build a profile of you, track you across sites, or make any automated decision that produces a legal or similarly significant effect. The supplier list you see is generated from the postcode you type in, and nothing else about you.
We only send price updates to people who ticked the box asking for them. Every such email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us. When you unsubscribe we keep a minimal record of your email address for the sole purpose of making sure we do not contact you again, which the ICO expects of a suppression list.

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to answer you. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, but if a breach occurs that risks your rights we will notify the ICO within 72 hours and tell you where the law requires it.
We may update this policy. Material changes are reflected in the "last updated" date at the top, and if a change affects something you consented to we will ask again rather than rely on the old consent.
