For households in Herefordshire, Certas Energy UK Limited (Companies House number 04168225) supplies domestic kerosene with a 500-litre minimum order, and its verified nationwide coverage extends across the whole of the UK. Headquartered in Warrington, Cheshire, and a listed UKIFDA member, it makes a sensible starting point before working through the smaller suppliers also covering the county.
Order direct with Certas Energy on their own site, rather than through a third-party reseller that takes your order and passes it on. You get the supplier's own price, you are dealing with the company that actually delivers the oil, and there is no broker between you and the tanker. We do not take orders, handle payment or add a fee to anything you buy.

We would rather say that plainly than let it look like an unexplained ranking. What the payment does not change is the evidence: the points above are the same verified fields we hold for all 83 suppliers. It buys this one card and nothing else - the list below is alphabetical, and no supplier can pay to be in it or to move up it. We hold no prices and no review scores, so this is not a claim that they are cheapest or best rated - always ring round the other suppliers below before you order. How we make money.
Named UK suppliers covering the Herefordshire area
Herefordshire is one of England's most rural counties and has one of the highest proportions of off-grid homes as a result. The rolling farmland, orchards and black-and-white-timbered villages that give the county its distinctive character are served by a patchwork of small country roads that many rural properties have never had gas infrastructure laid along. Around 30% of Herefordshire homes use oil, concentrated in the HR postcode area around Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye and the Golden Valley.
Local heating oil prices depend on how far your postcode is from the nearest fuel terminal, how far tankers travel to reach rural properties, how many suppliers compete in your area, and the size of your order - larger deliveries are cheaper per litre. Prices also move with the seasons (demand peaks in winter) and follow the global crude oil and wholesale kerosene markets, which can shift from week to week.
Compare quotes from several suppliers on the day you want to order, since prices change week to week with the wholesale market. Ordering 500 litres or more usually unlocks a better per-litre rate than a 300-litre order, and ordering outside the peak winter demand period tends to help too. Standard deliveries typically take a few working days, and some suppliers offer faster options for an additional charge. During cold spells lead times extend across the board, so it helps to order when your tank reaches about a quarter full rather than waiting until it runs low.
It can be. Narrow lanes and steep gradients in the Black Mountains, Malvern Hills and Wye Valley can rule out larger rigid tankers. Confirming access with suppliers before ordering is sensible - several offer smaller vehicle options for rural deliveries. Lead times can also be longer during cold weather when demand spikes across the county.
Herefordshire typically sits slightly above the national average - partly due to higher delivery costs for rural routes, and partly because it has fewer large depots than more industrialised counties. Comparing multiple suppliers including West Midlands-based nationals usually yields the most competitive price.
