Certas Energy UK Limited, company number 04168225, lists County Down within its verified UK-wide delivery coverage from its Warrington head office. As a UKIFDA member supplying domestic kerosene with a 500-litre minimum order, it makes a sensible starting point before working through smaller suppliers covering the area.
Order direct with Certas Energy on their own site, rather than through a third-party reseller that takes your order and passes it on. You get the supplier's own price, you are dealing with the company that actually delivers the oil, and there is no broker between you and the tanker. We do not take orders, handle payment or add a fee to anything you buy.
Affiliate partnership. Certas Energy pays us for this featured position. Certas Energy is our affiliate partner and pays for the featured position at the top of this page. We would rather say that plainly than let it look like an unexplained ranking. What the payment does not change is the evidence: the points above are the same verified fields we hold for all 83 suppliers. It buys this one card and nothing else - the list below is alphabetical, and no supplier can pay to be in it or to move up it. We hold no prices and no review scores, so this is not a claim that they are cheapest or best rated - always ring round the other suppliers below before you order. How we make money.
Named UK suppliers covering the County Down area
County Down is almost entirely off the mains gas network outside major urban centres. Oil heating is the default across the county, with over 60% of homes relying on it for warmth and hot water. Northern Ireland's large number of active suppliers creates a competitive market that typically keeps prices below the GB average. Comparing quotes is still important - prices can vary by up to 6p per litre between suppliers on the same day.
Households here may also be able to claim the £100 heating oil voucher, the Northern Ireland scheme that opens for applications on 9 September 2026. It is worth one voucher per address and it is not paid automatically.
Local heating oil prices depend on how far your postcode is from the nearest fuel terminal, how far tankers travel to reach rural properties, how many suppliers compete in your area, and the size of your order - larger deliveries are cheaper per litre. Prices also move with the seasons (demand peaks in winter) and follow the global crude oil and wholesale kerosene markets, which can shift from week to week.
Compare quotes from several suppliers on the day you want to order, since prices change week to week with the wholesale market. Ordering 500 litres or more usually unlocks a better per-litre rate than a 300-litre order, and ordering outside the peak winter demand period tends to help too. Standard deliveries typically take a few working days, and some suppliers offer faster options for an additional charge. During cold spells lead times extend across the board, so it helps to order when your tank reaches about a quarter full rather than waiting until it runs low.
Yes. County Down has a significant number of rural properties beyond the mains gas network that rely on oil as their primary heating fuel. This is particularly true in older farming villages, estate properties and countryside homes built before modern gas infrastructure existed.
Compare quotes from at least three suppliers on the day you want to order - prices can move several pence per litre week to week based on global crude oil movements. Ordering a larger volume (500L or 900L instead of 300L) and timing your order for spring or summer can also reduce the price per litre. Our comparison form shows you the suppliers available at your exact postcode.
